SA Fashion Week announces winners of the Cape Wools SA Designer Challenge, coupled with some exciting news on a collaboration with Mohair SA

Cape Wools and Mohair SA announced today that they will form a collaboration on the next edition of the SA Fashion Week and Cape Wools Designer Challenge to become the Cape Wools and Mohair SA Designer Challenge.

We are thrilled to announce that “De Mil” has been selected by an international panel of judges as the menswear designer, and “LUNAR” as the ladieswear designer.

We are delighted to have these designers on board and to experience the wonderful attributes of these two beautiful natural fibres.

The designers will have the opportunity to travel to the Eastern Cape and experience the on-farm activities of a wool and mohair farm, as well as visiting the manufacturing value chain. This will give them the opportunity to source some yarns and fabrics from local suppliers within the two industries.

Their designs will be showcased at the Autumn/Winter edition of SA Fashion Week in October 2019, as well as the Spring/Summer show in April 2020.

We saw the combining of two such beautiful natural fibres as the perfect opportunity to enhance the footprint of South African Wool and Mohair Industries.

Cape Wools and Mohair SA congratulate the two winners and look forward to their creative designs, utilising these sustainable natural fibres with its beautiful drape, soft handle and unique lustre.

The two winning designers will also be afforded the opportunity to attend the Making it in Textiles Conference in the UK later this year, to give them the unique opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge of the British and Globe textile sector.
