Collection Title: “Blast From The Past”

Based in Marshalltown, in Johannesburg, Ephraim Molingoana showed his first Ephymol collection at the South African Fashion Week in 2002. Molingoana draws his inspiration from the now – the political situation, the environment, his family and friends, and the streets and happenings around him. Growing up in Soweto and the Free State gave him exposure to different cultures and subcultures. Inspiration from Mapantsula, Sophiatown, Hippies, and Swankers formed the foundation of his identity. “Cuts, tailoring, print on prints, patchwork and the technique thereof inspires me. I work with vibrant colours, and I enjoy the subcultures of the AmaBhaca, Kitchness of Mblaselas, and the Pantsula’s loose fit and “Matchy Matchy looks”.
